WordPress Theme Talian with Targeted AdSense Ads, Clickbank ads included and SEO Improvements Creator: David Cameron Law (aka SEO Dave) Latest Version of theme: http://www.google-adsense-templates.co.uk/wordpress-theme-talian-with-adsense-and-seo-optimisation.html Version: 05 Based on original Talian Theme: http://www.va4business.com/business/64/free-premium-wordpress-blog-theme-talian-released-an-elegant-theme-that-is-very-much-close-to-my-heart/ Author: Steve Arun This is an issue I've had on a few sites and quite a few customers have asked for help with. If you create a lot of static blog Pages (not blog Posts) like the default About page you will find your top navigation menu becomes crowded and if too many are added will spill over and look a mess (that areas can fit around half a dozen links depending on how much text is associated with each link)! There are three solutions (beyond not creating too many blog Pages :-)). Planning Your static Pages -------------------------- The Talian theme is set to only show top level pages (parent pages) to be listed on the navigation menu, if the vast majority of blog Pages are held within parent blog Pages (in other words most Pages are child pages) they are not shown on the nav menu. You'll need to add the Pages widget to one of your sidebars to show all Pages to your visitors and search engines. Removing the Navigation Menu completely --------------------------------------- Use the setting within the Talian admin settings to turn the navigation menu off: Log into your sites Dashboard after installing Talian 05 and click "Appearance" >> "Talian AdSense and Clickbank + SEO" On the admin menu under the "Navigation Menu On/Off" section Tick the "Navigation Menu OFF" box. To have your blog Pages available to your readers add the Pages widget to your sidebars to show all Pages. Note: Turning the navigation menu off doesn't remove the home page navigation link, there's a setting to remove that as well if you want that entire area blank. Exclude Pages Form the Navigation Menu -------------------------------------- On the admin menu under the "Navigation Menu Excludes" section include a list of blog Pages you want to hide with the format: 1,4,67 The numbers relate to the Page IDs that can be found as follows. Under your WordPress Dashboard click the "Pages" link on the left menu. Under the list of all the Pages of your blog hover over a page and read off the "post=#" http://www.domain.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=6&action=edit The above Post ID is 6 Find the Post ID for all blog Pages you wish to exclude separated by commas. This is a useful feature for when you have a relatively small number of top level blog Pages and want to hide a handful to clean up the navigation menu. If you are having trouble fitting all the navigation links in this area you can more space by hiding the home page navigation link from the Talian admin page. Note: There's an interesting bug in WordPress if you exclude all pages this way. The pages are all excluded, but if you have child pages (level 2) they now show! Therefore if you want to exclude all pages turn the navigation menu off completely (described above). David Law http://www.google-adsense-templates.co.uk/
