WordPress Greenery theme with Google AdSense and SEO Optimisation
You can see the Google AdSense ad units in the screenshots below, a 250×250 ad unit that floats to the right at the top of the content of the first post ONLY, a sidebar ad unit 160×600 and a bottom (not quite footer) AdSense ad unit 336×280.
The first screenshot of the Greenery AdSense + SEO theme shows the home page format. You can clearly see the floating first post AdSense ad unit.
Note: with the version 03 Greenery WordPress AdSense + SEO theme the ad unit sizes are easily editable, so if 250×250 AdSense unit within the first posts content is too big in your opinion, it’s easily changed. We’ve included an extra file (found in the /alt/ folder of your Greenery theme directory) that will change all your ad units to less intrusive sizes, giving you two default sizes (large or small) that can either be used as is or edited further to match your blogging needs (full editing instructions are supplied with your WordPress theme purchase).
The second screenshot shows a single blog post page using the Greenery theme, this is where individual posts are shown (like the page you are reading now). You can see the floating ad unit again, the top of the vertical 160×600 ad unit on the right menu and the large 336×280 ad unit at the bottom. More content a post has (or comments) further down the page the last ad unit is found (so most pages won’t appear this cramped when using Greenery, great for taking a screenshot though ).
In my experience it’s the blog post pages that will create most Google AdSense revenue, especially the 250×250 square unit within the main blog post content (it’s a real hot AdSense CTR area and if you want max AdSense revenue keep it at 250×250).

Greenery with AdSense + SEO Installation Instructions
1. Unzip the Greenery zip file.
2. Edit the file adsense.php within the /greenery-adsense-seo-03/ folder to include your Google AdSense code (read the readme.txt file for more details, very easy to do).
Note: Adding your unique Google AdSense publisher code (your pub-##### number) is the ONLY required change needed to the entire Greenery AdSense + SEO theme to make the theme ready to turn your WordPress blog into a Google AdSense residual income stream.
3. Upload the entire /greenery-adsense-seo-03/ folder to your WordPress themes directory (via FTP, just like any other WordPress theme you’ve tried).
4. Log into your blogs dashboard and under Presentation select the new “Greenery AdSense + SEO 03″ WordPress theme and you are done.
The Greenery AdSense + SEO theme out the box uses blended ad unit colours and large ad units for maximum CTR/AdSense revenue (like all WordPress AdSense themes on this site). If you wish to change unit colours and/or ad unit dimensions this can be achieved by editing just one file (adsense.php). If you don’t like the 250×250 sized ad unit for example, no problem a few minor changes and you could have a smaller 180×150 ad unit. Don’t like image ads, again no problem specify text only ads. Also checkout the /alt/ folder where you will find an alternative adsense.php file that uses smaller ad unit sizes (try it out, see what you think).
I’ve worked as an SEO consultant for around 10 years and guarantee you will not find better search engine optimization WordPress themes (free or premium WordPress SEO theme) online today than my WordPress SEO themes.
Search Engine Optimization and WordPress Themes
Most WordPress themes aren’t too bad SEO wise when downloaded directly from their original creators, but there are always improvements that can be made for maximum SEO impact and the Greenery theme was no different.
The Greenery AdSense + SEO theme (like all WordPress themes on this site) includes-
Optimized title elements (and meta tags, though meta tags aren’t very important these days). Take a look at the title of this page, (this site uses a AdSense + SEO WordPress themes) note it’s keyword rich and lacks the name of the site (for SEO reasons).
Optimised headers, (H1, H2, H3, H4) for example on blog post pages like this one the name of the blog is NOT within a H1 header, (every WP theme I’ve used has a H1 header that holds a link to home page). Instead the title of the post for Greenery theme users is within the H1 header and the link to home is only a H1 header on pages that lack a true keyword focus like the monthly archive pages.
Optimised anchor text of text links. Every blog post can have a trackback text link and an RSS feed text link, this means for a blog with 100 posts there are two hundred wasted links to these 200 pages that from an SEO perspective you DO NOT want spidering/indexing!!

Hi David, I as well was referred by Bill Mcrea in his Massive Passive Plug in. He mention that your wp templates are excellent to plug in affiliate revenue and that he could not give it away but he mention it would be a nice buy.

I’m not sure what you are trying to achieve to be honest. If it’s adding a link to an affiliate site, that’s easy, you can do that with any WordPress theme.
Got a feeling it’s not that simple though, more details needed?
Are you looking for a pop up/pop under to the affiliate site with opt in info etc… if so none of my themes have that feature, you’d be looking for a WordPress plugin that adds that feature: not tried any but know they exist.

Right now I am looking into In-Text Advertising this is
another income stream for websites, and Socrates themes has CB, and adsense plug ins. Is Socrates themes in the same league as your SEO themes?
When you say rel=”follow” you mean not use rel=”nofollow”.
My best WordPress SEO theme is Talian 05, it uses no nofollow links, so whatever you link to will be followed (link benefit passed by Google).
The comment author links on the Talian theme although not nofollow, they do not pass or waste link benefit. I use form post button links for Talian which means users can click on them, but they don’t count as links in Google. It’s the equivalent of what nofollow used to do before Google moved the goal posts a year or two ago and changed nofollow to DELETE link benefit instead of protect it. Socrates uses nofollow so wastes a lot of link benefit!
My older themes are better SEO’d (though they do need an update for better SEO) than the Socrates theme, take a look at the Socrates demo page and note the anchor text “Home” for the home page link (SEO 101 is you don’t use “Home”, “Click Here” for links). If you view the source of the Socrates theme and check the sidebar area you’ll find H2 header for the headings of Categories etc… Unless you are after SERPS related to the keyword Categories you’d never surround the word with a H2 header (again basic SEO 101)! So SEO wise the Socrates theme is rubbish.
Advertising wise I’d say the Socrates theme is better than my older themes (version 03 themes) though harder to use. My old SEO/AdSense themes you added your AdSense pub-####### number to one file and that was it (there was other settings in the file, but not required), AdSense is on every page in good CTR areas. In Socrates you have to create multiple ads in your AdSense account and paste them verbatim, gives you more control over colours (have different colours for different ad units) but harder to setup.
Comparing Talian 05 to Socrates, Talian 05 is on a different level SEO wise, Talian 05 gets almost everything right SEO wise, Socrates gets a lot of things wrong. There’s no comparison, Talian 05 is an SEO theme, Socrates isn’t.
Advertising wise Talian 05 is targeting a slightly different market with overlaps. Talian is aimed at the complete newbie to AdSense who wants to add their pub-####### number and forget about it, placement, colours all preset to good values for most sites, while allowing the more advanced user control over most aspects of the ads. Like Socrates, Talian has Clickbank ads, in future releases I’m planning to have Chitika and Amazon ads as well (mix AdSense, Clickbank, Chitika and Amazon ad units). In Talian the keywords used to generate Clickbank ads are automated (uses the words of the title of posts, tags, categories), I understand in Socrates you can only select the keywords sitewide, so you type a list of keywords and they are used (in the next release of Talian that option is available as well).
So advertising wise there are features in Talian that are better than Socrates and features in Socrates that are better than Talian (I have a lot of new features planned for Talian and always looking for new ideas).

Yes, if you purchase Talian 05 you get free updates. Originally it was going to be every time I did a major update (full version number change 03 to 04 etc…) I wasn’t going to send out free updates to the previous version, but a couple of years on from Talian 03 I’ve been sending out free updates to everyone (version 03 customers received version 05 for free: too much trouble to keep track of who is who
) Have no plans to change that update system.

Every WordPress site I own (about 70 of them) runs Talian 05. The site you are on now runs Talian 05 with the AdSense and Clickbank ads disabled (tick a couple of boxes on the admin page to turn them off/on).
