  • SEO-Dave, Your WordPress themes with AdSense and SEO are brilliant. I have been using you Almost Spring template and the result has been more traffic and more clicks.
    I have two questions:
    1) I have had a on and off love affair with social bookmark plugins. Do you think these are worth having on a blog for SEO purposes?
    2) I am going to take a break from Adsense. Is there an easy way to use your Almost Spring with Targeted AdSense template for SEO, but turn off Adsense (and keep it looking nice)? that is keep the SEO aspect of Almost Spring, but not the Adsense?

    Glad your finding the theme helpful.

    Easy to turn the ads off by editing your adsense.php file.

    Find-

    define(AdsenseOn,1);

    Change to

    #define(AdsenseOn,1);

    Save and upload and Google ads will no longer be there.

    That leaves one minor problem that’s either ignorable or removable.

    After doing this the Adverts section on the menu will still be there, though no AdSense ad will be under it (little irritating).

    To remove this menu item load sidebar.php into a text editor and delete or better yet comment out the code responsible. Made it easy to comment out :-)

    Find:

    /* AdSense Code Start */

    Change to

    /* AdSense Code Start

    Save and upload and that section will vanish.

    If you use widgets also load functions.php in a text editor and repeat the changes for that file.

    Actually if you use widgets forget editing those files just remove the widget from your sidebar through the widgets options.

  • I have just bought this template to help me with www.mydiyguide.co.uk and find it excellent. I struggled initially to get things up and running and had to email SEO-Dave. Dave was extremely helpful, replying quickly to emails and walking me through the setup process, even helping me customise things on the site.
    I would recommend using any of these templates -- money well spent!

  • Dave, I am using wordpress 2.6 with Almost spring targeted adsense and SEO 03 (I think this is your latest version) -- after I updated to wordpress 2.6 I do not see my ‘subpages’ only my ‘parent pages’. ( http://www.learnrussianlearnrussian.com ). When I change themes to the wordpress default it works but with your theme (which I think yours adsense themes are the best on the market, and I recommend your themes to all) I only see the parent pages. Do you know what I should do? and thank you for such effective SEOed themes.

    Hi Dave, Do you know when you will, or if you will update Almost Spring to 04?
    Best regards

      It was a LOT of effort converting Talian to version 4 and I currently don’t have the free time to update another theme yet, I want to update them all long term.

      I’m currently updating all my WordPress sites after a hacker got FTP passwords to some of them and for ease I’m changing all to run on Talian 04 until I get around to updating the other themes.

        Dave, thank you the reply. I will probably buy your Talian theme anyway as I think it is your workhorse in terms on Adsense templates. I think you mentioned this has a night click rate.
        For me it took about one day for my theme I bought from you to pay for itself.
        I usually recommend you to people, I am curious why some people actually do not take my advice and buy your themes as the return on investment is high. I am not trying to make you look good, rather I am grateful. Since I bought your theme(s) I have a nice income stream.
        I am sorry to hear about the hack. It is a royal pain. I am lucky only one of my sites was hacked, spammer set links up on my site and Google.com banned it.

    Is this theme, along with others you produce, compatible with the latest version of WP and any plugin that may be required for them to work correctly?

      My WordPress themes work with WordPress 3.0.4 (latest stable version) without any known issues.

      Have an issue with WordPress 3.1 RC1 with Talian 5, the new WordPress Multisite 3.1 admin menu (shows for logged in users all the time!) is messing up the display a little**. I fixed the problem only for WordPress development to change it to another format that messed it up again, so waiting for just before the release before fixing it again.

      **They’ve only gone and forced 28px padding at the top of the page so they can fit in an admin menu (will show on pages like this one if you own the blog and are logged in) which means any themes using absolute positioning (that’s a LOT of themes) will be messed up, then they changed it to 28px margin which might be worse (I’d added a fix for the padding problem, but it doesn’t work for margin).

      Not sure what you mean about plugins? The themes don’t need any WordPress plugins to work.
