Until recently I was providing support for my Talian WordPress SEO theme on the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog WordPress plugin support forum, but the forum appears to have been deleted.

Massive Passive Profits Plugin/Talian SEO WordPress Theme Support
I always keep an offline copy of everything I post to forums etc… so will post the various solutions to Massive Passive Profits/Talian SEO theme problems I’d posted on the forum as comments on this page.
Below are the main Talian Theme Issues users are having using the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog System. Will post others as comments.
Full Posts and Videos/Images not Showing on Home Page While Using Talian
This is caused by an SEO feature of all my WordPress SEO themes, to prevent duplicate content on archive pages the Talian theme uses an excerpt for archive pages like the home page, categories and tags.
To have richer content (YouTube videos, images etc…) on your archive pages download the free SEO Post Teaser plugin from the WordPress SEO Plugins page.
The default settings gives your excerpt ~120 words and shows videos, images, buy now links that are in the top ~120 words of a post. The Post Teaser settings allows you to set the number of words in the excerpt and the ability to show full posts on archive pages (not recommended for SEO reasons, duplicate content, but it’s your site…).
Turning AdSense/Clickbank Ads Off Privacy/About Pages for Talian
I Want My About/Privacy/Other Static Page to have no Google AdSense/Clickbank Ads in the Content.
Download the Talian Ad Free Page Template and unzip the new template file you downloaded.
Upload (using FTP) the file “page-ad-free.php” into the folder /wp-content/themes/talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/.
Via your WordPress Dashboard edit the Pages (only works with Pages, not blog Posts) you want to turns ads off.
On the right menu under “Page Attributes” >> “Template” select the new “Static Page No Ads” template.
Save the page and the content ads will be gone (any sidebar ads will remain).
This template file will only work with Talian 05 and will be included in the next Talian update (hope to release in December 2010).
Using Talian Multisite Sitemap to Help Search Engines Spider/Index Autoblog Sub-domains
There is no built in WordPress feature for linking sub-domains together in a multisite setup (using sub-domains is recommended by Bill McRea when using the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin).
Download the Talian Multisite Template file, unzip the new template file you downloaded.
And upload (using FTP) the file “sitemap-multisite.php” into the folder /wp-content/themes/talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/.
Via your WordPress Dashboard create a new Page (Under “Pages” >> “Add New”) give the new Page a title like “SiteMap” and on the right menu under “Page Attributes” >> “Template” select the new “Sitemap Multisite” template.
Publish the new page and on your top navigation menu you’ll have a new link (title “SiteMap” or whatever you called it).
The new SiteMap page will include links to your latest 300 multisite sub-domains or sub-folders (basically the last 300 autoblogs you created) which search engine spiders can follow to find, spider and index all your sub-domains/sub-folder autoblog sites. By linking to the main site where this SiteMap is located search engine spiders have an easy route to all your multisite autoblogs without you having to manually link to hundreds of sub sites (you still have to gain links to the main site).
This template file will only work with Talian 05 and will be included in the next Talian update (hope to release in December 2010).
I’ve Installed the Talian Plugin and Get a Header Error.
You are receiving this error because Talian is a theme not a plugin, install it as a WordPress theme either by uploading using FTP to the /wp-content/themes/ folder or via the built in WordPress theme installer via your Dashboard under “Appearance” >> “Themes” and under the “Install Themes” tab “Upload” browse and find the Talian zip file you downloaded and click “Install Now”.

Wow
I thought I was the only one stupid enough to upload a theme as a plugin.
Thanks for making me feel at home.

No problem at all!
Now, let’s see what I can stuff up today…

Using a WordPress AdSense Plugin with Talian 05 SEO Theme
Talian 05 includes 6 built in AdSense ad units (3 content and 3 search based) by default which is the maximum number of AdSense ad units you can use on a page.
You could still use an AdSense plugin, but you’d need to disable the number of ad units per page added by the AdSense WordPress plugin via the adsense.php file (see file for instructions).
Or if you don’t want Talian to deal with the AdSense side of your site at all it can be disabled completely via the Talian options page (tick a box and AdSense is turned off).
In the next update of Talian you’ll be able to turn off specific ads via the built in options menu rather than edit the adsense.php file.
There’s a fair amount of control over the AdSense ads built into Talian 05 and they are placed by default in the best areas for making money, but if you want to use an AdSense plugin instead it’s easy to achieve.

Out Of Memory Issues with Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin Sites
Out Of Memory Issues with Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin.
The solution to a WordPress plugin crashing a site is delete the WordPress plugin via FTP and check if the site works.
Basically log in via FTP (Filezilla, it’s free), go to /wp-content/plugins/ (on your site it’s at /home/site/public_html/wp-content/plugins/) and delete the folder of the plugin you think is causing the problem.
If you don’t have a copy of your plugins folder on your PC it’s a good idea to download all the folders first (make a backup of /wp-content/plugins/ folder) so you can upload them again (via FTP) if it turns out it wasn’t a plugin causing the problem.
Go to your home page and see what happens. If that doesn’t work also try www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ to try to login (sometimes the problem affects the template system, but not the admin part). If you can login without deleting a WordPress plugin go to plugins page under your Dashboard and disable the ones that might be the problem.
You might find it’s not the WordPress plugin you suspected that’s causing the problem, if you suspect it’s a plugin but not sure which one, delete them one by one and test the site.
If you get the site working go to your WordPress plugins page and you’ll have a notice about plugins being missing and removed. Reupload the deleted WordPress plugins one by one that’s not to blame and reactivate (you might loose some plugin settings).
You can try reuploading the problem plugin and change settings, if it’s the Massive Passive Profits plugin could be you have your campaigns set to post too much stuff in one go, multiple campaigns running at the same time (if campaign times overlap) reduce how often they post content.
It’s all down to how much your server/host can handle, how much memory you have, how good the CPU of the server/host is: you wouldn’t try to run the latest PC graphic intensive game on an old 486 PC from the 90s.
If you fix the issue consider install WP Super Cache plugin (it’s free), this can help reduce the load on your server making it less likely to crash if a plugin is a resource hog (autoblog plugins tend to need a lot of server resources while they grab and post content).
If you’ve gone with a really cheap hosting plan you might need an upgrade or reduce the number of sites running: a $5 a month host is going to STRUGLE with 300 sub-domains autoposting, but shouldn’t have a problem with a dozen with the right settings.
Not a Talian specific issue, but this can happen to anyone running an autoblog plugin if they try to achieve too much with limited server resources: basically take your time scaling up.

Uniquefier WordPress Plugin Review
Uniquefier WordPress Plugin Review and Why You Shouldn’t use the Uniquefier WordPress Plugin.
Some Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin users are using another paid for WordPress plugin called Uniquefier to ‘rewrite/hide’ the duplicate content autoblog plugins create.
Unfortunately they don’t understand how the Uniquefier plugin works.
The reason why the Uniquefier plugin ‘works’ is because it completely hides the content from search engines by turning it into javascript content which search engines can’t read. So it doesn’t rewrite content, it hides it and if it’s hidden search engines can’t rank a site for the hidden content.
If you use the Uniquefier plugin you might as well not create autoblogs as all Google etc… will see is the template of the site and few other bits of content (the title of a post multiple times depending on the template).
Google will see the header (the sites title etc…), your sidebars, your footer and the name of the hidden post. All the important content, text, images, videos that’s within the post will be gone as far as Google and other search engines are concerned.
Uniquefier doesn’t rewrite duplicate content, it hides it and leave so little content on a page for the search engines to index you’ll probably find your sites are removed from Google. I use this concept (javascript content, not this WordPress plugin) for hiding affiliate links, but would never use it on the main content.
I’m afraid other than actually rewriting the duplicate content (there are ways to do this, but they aren’t very good) you just have to accept your sites will be downgraded in Google long term, which is why if you get into autoblogging it’s a case of as the sites go down (downgraded) you create more to replace them. It’s a numbers game, the search engines take time to find and downgrade sites running duplicate content, in that time you make money.

Hello, Please i just bought and installed a copy of Talian O5, How do I get to remove the Categories, Meta, Links and RSS widgets on the right side of my blog. Thank you
Use the widgets menu under “Appearance” >> “Widgets” to ONLY add the sidebar items (widgets) you want on the two sidebars.

Using Talian 5 with the MPP Plugin
David,
How can I add a new “tab” at the top of the page next to About and Sitemap? I’d like to make a “Home” link that will go back to my original static homepage.
Is there a quota for the Talian 05 script on how many posts it will make? I’ve had the posts completely stop on another website for a couple of days now and I’m using the MPP plugin in conjunction with yours.
Also (sorry for so many questions) when using Talian 05 and MPP, I’ve setup the left sidebar (on many of my websites)for amazon and the first page rarely shows anything from amazon. Is this normal?
I also want to say that your Talian 05 product is by far the easiest and best software I’ve used to date for my many websites… thank you for creating a uniquely great plugin and making my job much easier.

Are you wanting a main home page link from every sub-domain created by the Massive Passive Profits Plugin?
If so that currently requires editing the header.php file.
Find
<div class="navigators"><ul>
and add below it:
<li class="page_item"><a href="http://domain.com/">Anchor Text</a></li>Replacing http://domain.com/ with the URL to home and replace “Anchor Text” with something relevant to your main site.
Save, upload via FTP and there will be a link to whatever domain you linked to on the left hand side of the navigation menu. In the next Talian update (hoping to release early next year, but no firm date as working on a lot of new features) I’ve added the ability to paste any code there via the Talian options page, you’d be able to achieve the above without editing template files in combination with the Blog Template Plugin (used with the Massive Passive Profits Plugin) have it populated on all new sub-domains.
There’s no post quota with Talian (or any WordPress theme as far as I know), I’ve a recipe site with over 130,000 posts working well. As you might expect there are issues with having very large sites, but sounds like your issue is with the Massive Passive Profits Plugin running out of relevant content to post. If you’ve posted a really obscure niche keyword you’ll run out of Amazon products and articles to post quite quickly. When they run out (all campaigns run out eventually) will be based on what keywords you used.
On the site you’ve linked to the left sidebar is empty code wise. If you’ve dragged and dropped widgets on that sidebar (sidebar1) it suggests something has gone wrong. Have you edited the code of the left_sidebar.php file? Looks like it’s had it’s default widgets content removed (could be an error in the editing that’s broke the code).
If you aren’t familiar with widgets, under your Dashboard click “Appearance” >> “Widgets” and you can drag and drop menu items on that page to the two sidebars. You could add an Amazon ad as a text widget as well without having to edit the template files.

David,
After inserting the code into the header.php file I have the new tab needed and it works great. I’m still playing with the sidebars in order to get the “look” I’m looking for.
One thing I’ve noticed after making many new websites is when installing either MPP or Talian 05 into the “Themes” area I get these comments:
1. The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
2. The active theme is broken. Reverting to the default theme.
3.Under “Broken Themes” Name Description…
wp-mpp Stylesheet is missing.
What I’ve been doing is deleting the install (ftp) and trying a new install until it get’s it installed coreectly. Do you have any idea what is happening here?
Thanks for all your help,
Randy

The error sounds like you are installing the Massive Passive Profits Plugin into the themes folder at /wp-content/themes/
Plugins go in
/wp-content/plugins/
Themes go in
/wp-content/themes/
If you mix them up you get the sort of error you are seeing.

The Theme is working very well for me. I have had over a 25% increase in Adsense clicks on seven WordPress sites I have. Previously I was using random free themes. The theme paid for itself the first six days by increasing my clickthrough rate.
With the Adsense channel information it was really easy for me to check this out.
Thanks
hi, just purchased. One thing I noticed is when I installed the Talian theme my pictures from the old them through amazon do not show up. I double checked the settings and everything is the same in the MP amazon settings. I tried sm, med and large pics with now luck. Everything else works fine, the pics from amazon are just not showing up. Thanks for the help. Mike
Check the “Full Posts and Videos/Images not Showing on Home Page While Using Talian” section in the article above, that’s if you are referring to images/videos not showing on the home and other archive pages, but fine on the full Posts.
If that’s not the issue I’ll need more info and a link to the site you are having problems on.

David,
I would like to install a plugin called “cryptographp” ( a captcha signin)instead of using the akismet filter and it says to edit the theme folder in the comments area where the word “” is available by adding the tag line . Looking at the Talian 05 theme editor I cannot find anything called “form” in the code, so is it possible to install cryptographp in the Talian 05 theme?
Thanks,
Randy
Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin and Talian WordPress SEO Theme Support
Not familiar with that captcha plugin. Usually if you want to add something specific to the comments area it requires editing the comments.php file.
I think some of your comment above didn’t get through the HTML filter (WordPress removes some HTML code).
You are probably wanting to edit the comments.php file near the bottom around:
</form>For future reference to post code in a way that’s not filtered in a WordPress comment you have to replace all the < signs with
& lt;
Without the space after the & sign.

Hi David:
This is a “weird” problem.
I have a number of sites using the Talian 05 theme, and all are look good, except one.
Here’s how I set-up the widget section on the site that’s acting weird …
Side Bar 1:
9GATLink Adverts 01
1GAT Adverts ClearBG
Side Bar 2:
9GAT Clickbank 01
Text Widget (180x150 Ad By CBProAds)
6GAT Recent Articles
TAG Cloud
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The only difference I have on this site as compared to the rest of the sites using the Talian theme is the text widget for the CBProAds … everything else is the same.
This is what happens …
On the home page, only one of the side bar widgets appear. And what’s interesting/frustrating is that the Side Bar 2 widgets only appear, and they appear where the Side Bar 1 widgets are supposed to appear. Nothing is displayed in Side Bar 2.
However, when I click on the link to read the whole blog post from the excerpt, both Side Bar 1 and Side Bar 2 widgets are displayed like they’re supposed to.
I checked the other pages, for example, the About, Disclaimer, Disclosure and Privacy page, and the side bar widgets display just fine.
The problem only appears on the home page.
I removed the CBProAds text widget from the Side Bar 2 entry thinking that was the problem, however, that did not resolve the issue.
Any ideas???
Thanks,
Glenn
Without seeing the site it’s difficult to say, but my guess would be one of the posts has an HTML error near the top of the page and the excerpt code is ‘showing’ the HTML (which it shouldn’t).
You can probably track down the post at fault by loading the pages on the home page until you find one where the sidebars break.
If it’s what I think it is I had another customer with this issue. Basically some articles added by the Massive Passive Profits Plugin are not having the excerpts processed correctly and it breaks the excerpts which Talian (many themes) uses.
I suspected it was an RSS feed plugin doing something strange as it’s not Talian breaking an RSS feed excerpt (themes don’t interact with the feed URL).
I’d need to see the site to be sure. If you don’t want to post a URL here feel free to email me. Ideally I’d have links to a few of your sites you’ve setup the same for comparison.
Hi David:
Thank you very much for that tip!
After a fresh load of posts on the site in question, the side bar problem appeared to “move” from the 1st page to the 2nd page. I checked the next page (#3), and the side bars were intact and displayed correctly.
I was able to isolate the problem post on page #2, deleted it, and the side bar issue was corrected.
Thanks again for your advice on this issue!
Glenn
P.S. Glad to hear that the Talian theme v. MPP theme has been resolved!
David,
On one of my MPP/Talian websites I’ve created 25 sites starting 12/04/2010 by hand (did not use Mass Deploy yet)and some of them never started receiving content at all while a few others did. Now all the rest of the sites have completely stopped receiving any content on 12/18/2010? I know you said before that “sounds like your issue is with the Massive Passive Profits Plugin running out of relevant content to post” but this subject is huge with content and I’m not understanding what is going on. Can you help?
Also, how do you put the “numbered pages” at the bottom of the page along with “Previous Page” and “Next Page”?
Thanks,
Randy Nelson
Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin and Talian WordPress SEO Theme Support
I’m not an expert on the Massive Passive Profits Plugin, but I do understand how these autoblog plugins work.
When we look at a search phrase in say Amazon we might find thousands of relevant products, but a plugin doesn’t use the same search functions Amazon lets it’s customers use to find relevant products.
So we as a customer might find 1,000 products, but as affiliates using their API (like using an autoblog plugin) might only be 100 available from the same search. I would assume it makes sense to Amazon for the customer search to loosely match a search phrase so a customer always finds something, they won’t worry so much about affiliates searches using their API.
I would check the plugin campaigns are still running on the problem sites, login and see when the next batch is set to post and when the last posts were added and see if it makes sense. For example if a campaign is set to run once every 24hrs and the last run was 2 hours ago, but the last post added was 2 days ago, something isn’t right.
Could be that campaign ran out of content.
If you find a campaign should run every 24 hours and it’s not run for a week the campaign has stopped posting for another reason.
If you aren’t setting up cron jobs the plugin adds new content when the site is visited (runs a pseudo cron job), if you haven’t linked to a sub-domain and no one is visiting it the plugin won’t be activated to add new content.
Think about adding the Multisite Sitemap Template I put on the site for a free download (link in the main article above), it will make it easier for Google etc… to find all your sub-domains which will help with getting the plugin to activate to add new content.
Don’t forget to check the MMP plugins error log, might be some useful info there.
The numbered links at the bottom of archive pages can be added with the WP-PageNavi WordPress Plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-pagenavi/
New SEO ad theme feature for Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin users.
I’m currently working on version 6 of my SEO ad theme (which will no longer be called Talian, got a new brand name: so busy coding in features I’ve not registered the brand domain names to protect them yet
).
Since I have hundreds of customers running the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin I’ve added an SEO feature just for them in the next release.
Every autoblog plugin I’ve looked at including the Massive Passive Profits Plugin uses nofollow attributes for affiliate links. This used to be a good idea for preventing affiliate links wasting link benefit (I used nofollow extensively), but Google no longer honors what nofollow used to do: it used to conserve link benefit now it deletes it!!!!
With your average autoblog plugin page to an Amazon product it can generate anywhere from 2 to over half a dozen nofollow affiliate links (all deleting link benefit). This means every page generated by an autoblog plugin wastes the link benefit of 2+ links, multiply that by a 1,000 page autoblog and you can see it’s a LOT of wasted link benefit!
I’ve added a new feature to version 6 of the SEO ad theme that when the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin is installed you’ll have the option to ‘hide’ your affiliate links from search engines (Google).
The plugin links already have basic redirection type cloaking (though Google can easily follow these and see the link goes to Amazon etc…). Now with a tick of a box and click of a mouse button (two mouse clicks) all your affiliate links will be removed from Google’s sight.
Not only are affiliate links one of the major thin affiliate footprints that search engine spiders like Google use to find and downgrade autoblog sites, but also the wasted link benefit to affiliate/nofollow links is wasted. Two major SEO issues with autoblogs solved.
This is a very cool feature, I’ve been using this SEO technique for months on autoblogs and thin affiliate test sites and they are tending to do better than their nofollow/normal affiliate link counterparts. Before I knew the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin even existed I’d been testing another popular autoblog plugin and had had to rewrite all the modules to achieve this level of SEO and it meant when the plugin updated I had to spend an hour editing the new module files (it’s a real pain)!
The new theme feature will work on new autoblogs and old. This means if you have an autoblog site today with 10,000 posts with say 30,000 nofollow/affiliate links, with a few clicks of the mouse those links will no longer be ‘seen’ by search engines.
By not wasting link benefit your sites pages will tend to rank better overall and by hiding the affiliate links footprint you’ve increased the chances your autoblogs will last longer before Google etc… downgrades them for thin affiliate content.
Put it this way, if your average autoblog is downgraded by Google in a year, if you can extend that period on average by 6 months you do less work replacing downgraded sites. AKA more money for less effort.
David
Another Massive Passive Profits Plugin features, removing images from the plugin folder autoblog footprint.
As there are thousands of users of the Massive Passive Profits Plugin and potentially tens of thousands of autoblog sites using the plugin there’s a chance Google etc… will use footprints left by the plugin to downgrade autoblogs faster.
Ones such autoblog footprint is the Amazon buy now image and the YouTube Video rating images found under /wp-content/plugins/wp-mpp/img/ that are linked from the Amazon product pages and the YouTube video pages.
I’ve added a feature to version 6 of my SEO ad theme to change the location of these images. Not completely coded in the theme yet, but when complete users will have two options.
1. Go with a new default location for the images. This will require a simple few clicks of the mouse. Not the best solution, but since only a sub-set of Massive Passive Profits users also use my theme, it might be enough.
2. The best solution the more advanced user can FTP the image folder (I’ll supply a folder with them in) in a server location of their choice and enter that location in the themes options page. For example you might select: /cool-images/ and place a folder called /cool-images/ in the root of your domain (they’d be found at www.example.com/cool-images/ instead of www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-mpp/img/. Hmm, not sure how WordPress works with images not in the plugin or themes folder on Multisite sub-domains, so will have to test this bit first (might have to have the folder under either /plugins/ or /themes/).
Will also add the ability to select from two or more Amazon buy now images, give you a little choice in how those images look.
David,
I tried entering the cryptographp code into the comments.php folder and I think this is where all my MPP/Talian 05 problems started. When viewing each website down where the comment area is located there is “no” comments area and I’m seeing this message “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/searand/public_html/wp-content/themes/talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/comments.php on line 1″?
I tried ftp-ing the original “comments.php file” back into my main website ezfacelift.com and now the comments area is there again but above the area it reads: “Logged in as admin. Log out ยป”? I’m not sure if this was the cause (just a guess) for most of my additional MPP websites to stop adding content (probably not related) but it’s very coincidental. Is there something else I should do to get all of this back to normal?
Thanks,
Randy
Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin and Talian WordPress SEO Theme Support
The Parse error means you added the code in the wrong area or the code was broken. If you are sure it’s not broken try different locations, you might be lucky (that’s how I learnt PHP
)
The Logged in as admin. Log out message is normal, it’s what you are supposed to see when you are logged in to WordPress as admin (only you see it).
So uploading the original file fixed the code mistake. Would I be right in assuming it’s this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cryptographp/installation/ you are trying to install?
Seems straightforward enough, though if you pasted that in the middle of the other PHP code it would cause an error.
Assuming the plugin isn’t broken (it’s a bit on the old side) pasting it near the bottom of the file below the line
<?php do_action('comment_form', $post->ID); ?>Is probably about right. Would look like this:
<?php do_action('comment_form', $post->ID); ?><?php display_cryptographp(); ?>
</div>
</form>
I haven’t tested this, if this gives the parse error I’d assume the plugin is out of date and no longer working.
I have 70+ WordPress installations and only use Akismet free version for SPAM and it catches 99.9% of it (I must get millions of SPAM comments a year). It’s hard enough getting real visitors to comment on some sites as it is, I wouldn’t make it harder. I have a few popular sites I no longer moderate comments on on a daily basis, very little SPAM gets through, when it does I delete it.
One of the sites receives over 15,000 visitors a day has around 20,000 comments and I turned moderation off (comments are posted live) and notification of new comments is turned off and check every month or so through the comments for SPAM and barely ever have to delete anything. Even I’m surprised so few SPAM comments get through, I will add the site uses Talian 05 and I’ve turned the ability to add and show author comment links on the comment form off (via the Talian options page), so the only spammers it’s going to get (real live spammers can’t add a link so won’t bother) is the automated bots that Akismet almost always catches.
For autoblogs always use Akismet and have your comments set so you have to approve all comments unless you’ve already approved comments from that commenter. You won’t get many real comments on autoblogs, so if you do get any real comments approve them once a month or something (it’s an autoblog, don’t waste too much time on them).
David,
I’ve taken your advise and am now using the akismet filter. I would like to include more widgets in each side bar (especially the tags widget) but every time I add one and go back to homepage the only widget remaining is the one I just added. I must be doing something wrong because I’ve seen on your site 5 or 6 widgets on a side bar. What do I need to do?
Thanks,
Randy
Add two widgets to the same sidebar and all should become clear
When you add a widget for the first time it ‘resets’ that sidebar so rather than adding one widget to the current sidebar widgets, you are starting from scratch.
Means you can build your two sidebars with only the widgets you want and not the ones the theme author thought you’d want to use plus the ones you choose.
David
David,
I finally figured that out because of our time difference (and I’m sorry for sending the question now) I was in a hurry to get my site finished so I continued experimenting until I achieved the look I wanted.
This did however raise another question. Will I have to manually enter “tags” into the tag widget?
Thanks again for your help,
Randy
The tag widget is automated, so whatever tags you add to your posts will be added to the tags widget.
The current GAT tags widget isn’t very good (formatting is awful), the default tag format is better. I’ve made a new tag widget for version 06 with better formatting, so won’t look that bad in the future
David
David,
I reinstalled the default “tag clouds” (I think this is the default anyway) but I’m not sure how to add tags to my posts?
Also, shouldn’t the videos show up on each page other than linking from [Watch]… ?
Thanks,
Randy
I believe the Massive Passive Profits Plugin has the ability to auto tag the posts, though you’ll probably find they aren’t tagged very well.
You can also get free plugins (don’t ask which as don’t use them, not a big user of tags, prefer categories) to auto tag your posts, they can look at places like Yahoo for relevant tags.
For non autoblog posts (so posts that are very important) add the tags manually, it’s on the right hand menu when you create or edit a post (similar to adding a new category when creating a new post).
If none of your posts have tags currently a tag cloud widget won’t have any tags. You can see it in action if you add a non GAT tag widget and in the widget settings select tag categories instead of tags.
See the Post Teaser plugin on the WordPress SEO Plugins page for having YouTube videos and images shown on the home page and other archive pages.
Hi Randy:
Try using the WP Auto Tagger plugin for your auto-blogged posts.
Thanks,
Glenn
Glen,
Thanks for the suggestion… have you had any problems with WP Auto Tagger spamming your blog links?
Thanks again,
Randy
The WP Auto Tagger plugin author has added some code to add a link to the blogroll (didn’t install the plugin, just looked at the code).
Bit cheeky to do that!
Easy to remove: edit the file auto-tagger.php in a text editor.
Find:
if($wpdb->get_var("SELECT COUNT(link_id) FROM $wpdb->links WHERE link_url='http://wordpresssupplies.com/'")==0)wp_insert_link(array('link_name' => 'Wordpress Themes', 'link_url' => 'http://wordpresssupplies.com/', 'link_description' => 'Download Free WordPress Themes and Plugins' ));
And either delete those two lines or add # signs like:
# if($wpdb->get_var("SELECT COUNT(link_id) FROM $wpdb->links WHERE link_url='http://wordpresssupplies.com/'")==0)# wp_insert_link(array('link_name' => 'Wordpress Themes', 'link_url' => 'http://wordpresssupplies.com/', 'link_description' => 'Download Free WordPress Themes and Plugins' ));
Save, upload etc... and when the plugin is activated it shouldn't add links to your blogroll.
Not tested this, but 99% sure it will work.
The code is activated when the plugin is activated, so you could activate the plugin as it is and delete the link from the blogroll under the links menu in your Dashboard. Note if you deactivate and reactivate another link will be added and if you've made the changes above and then update the plugin automatically and deactivate/reactivate the link would be added.
Very cheeky to not ask and give users the ability to say no/remove the link. Would probably get removed from the WordPress plugin repository for doing this if the right people are told about it.
David,
This script change is for my real estate website blog: http://www.ezproperties.com/blog
I changed the code script by adding the # signs where you suggested. When installing the widgets I used the “Tag Cloud” widget for sidebar 1 and named it “Tags” and for the Taxonomy I used “Post Tags”.
What’s happening is in the Tag Cloud on sidebar 1 I now have tags showing and I also have tags showing in the middle of the page? Is this the way it should look or have I done something wrong?
Thanks,
Randy
Your Post Tags (the ones in the content) and Tags Widget (sidebar tag links) are as they are supposed to be.
I note on your right sidebar you have a Calendar, the Calendar widget code is broken in Talian 05 and the code is so bad SEO wise I’ll be disabling that widget in the next update (it should never be used with any theme).
Basically when you use the default Calendar widget the links within it include a title tag that includes the text of the entire post! If a calendar shows 30 links that’s the entire text content of 30 posts!!!
I’m not sure what WordPress development were thinking when they made this widget, but it’s very poorly thought out as it has the potential to increase the download time for a page due to page size (you might have 100KB+ text in that widget on every page!).
Hi Randy:
No problem!
Regarding the spam issue … yes, I do get spam, but not a whole lot of them. And I rely on the Akismet plugin to block all spam messages now.
You will need to get the Akismet API code from, I believe, the Akisment website, and use that code to activate the plugin.
Good luck w/ your MPP sites!
help i just bought and installed a copy of Talian O5, How do I get to remove the Categories, Meta, Links and RSS widgets on the left side of my blog they are not in the sidebar options for me to drag out
You use the widgets menu to build the sidebars as you want them, so drag whichever widgets you want and only those widgets. Do this for each of the two sidebars and you’ll have the sidebars you want.
