Since it takes sooooo looong to convert a WordPress theme to Search Engine Optimized (SEOing a theme in particular takes forever) and AdSense Ready (not too difficult to add AdSense if the options are limited) I decided to convert some new and very popular WordPress Themes lacking AdSense and the sort of search engine optimization only an SEO consultant like myself could add
to Free AdSense Ready WordPress Themes (not adding SEO optimization, at least not yet).
IF I find a free AdSense WordPress theme like Arclite is a popular free download, then I might convert it to fully search engine optimized and even better AdSense coding: this version of Arclite with AdSense has a very limited AdSense options page, can only change the Google AdSense pub ID (so you get paid) and the AdSense ad unit colours without editing lots of theme files (better than most AdSense themes options, but not as good as the ones I sell).
Arclite WordPress Theme with AdSense
Arclite is my first free AdSense Ready WordPress Theme I’ve converted on this site. I found the Arclite theme via http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ where it is currently (August 2009) listed as the 4th most popular WordPress theme (Downloaded 4,478 times ).
Arclite was created by Digitalnature : at http://digitalnature.ro/projects/arclite
Theme Tags: custom-header, threaded-comments, theme-options, flexible-width, brown, light and now AdSense ready
I worked with version 1.5.4 of the Arclite theme, I’ve add three AdSense content ad units in some of the most clicked areas on a page. Since I only use my fully converted SEO versions of AdSense Ready WordPress themes I don’t have a demo site to show of this WordPress theme including AdSense. That being said look at the Digitalnature page above to find a demo of the standard Arclite theme and see the screenshot below (click to see a larger Arclite image) of what it looked like on one of my sites when I tested it.
One sidebar content ad unit (also available via widgets) : 160×600
One content ad unit within the main content : 336×280
One content ad unit just above the footer : 336×280
The second content ad unit above tends to get most clicks.
If I convert Arclite to fully SEO and AdSense ready I’ll also add three text link ad units (like you see with the Talian theme I run on this site).
Installing Arclite AdSense Ready Theme
1. Download the free theme below:
2. Unzip, you should have the folder /arclite-adsense-01/
3. Load adsense.php in a text editor like notepad.
4. Change the pub-######## to your pub-######## number: you get this from Google AdSense, login to Google AdSense create an ad unit and copy the pub- code.
5. After saving the edited adsense.php file upload the entire /arclite-adsense-01/ folder to your WordPress themes folder (/wp-content/themes/arclite-adsense-01/) just like any other WordPress them you want to try out.
6. Log into your WordPress blogs Dashboard and go to the theme options page and click on the Arclite AdSense 01 theme to activate it.
7. Check your WordPress blog to see if it’s working correctly.
If you use Arclite with AdSense please post a comment below.
BTW I’ve downloaded the 15 most popular WordPress themes, I plan to convert all 15 to be free AdSense Ready WordPress themes and see how they go.

Thank you! It’s awesome template. I will use it on my personal blog.
Hey great stuff, any more updates on the theme…Like text links (adsense) above the headline of the content would be good as well to add..Is there any way we can have the categories on the above right go down..cause i have a few categories, cause of this the ads on the sidebar are moving lower and lower.
The free AdSense WordPress themes won’t include the text link ad units, those are added to the premium AdSense/SEO themes (cost £10).
I’m adding the free AdSense themes to test out how popular some themes are (plan to add at least 15 free themes). If Arclite with AdSense becomes popular (as a free download, lots of user Arclite comments) I’ll completely convert this to AdSense/SEO Arclite version which will include text link ad units (will be for sale at £10).
Don’t worry will also leave the free version up.
Your categories problem if I understand correctly should be solvable by moving the categories widget below the AdSense ad unit widget via the WordPress built in widget options page.
If you’ve not tried widgets before they are great for customizing a WordPress blog, you get to build your menu how you want it.

to success.I was wondering if you could able to assist to fix the problem. Please visit my “FACEDAWN” arclite website to see how the website
look like.Lastly,is it possible to add contact button to the theme?Thank you.
William
I followed your directions but when it got to the part about uploading the template to my wordpress blog, you lost me. I can find no button or menu item that will allow me to upload anything to my themes. Please help. Thanks.
Free www.wordpress.com blogs, like yours don’t have the ability to use any AdSense theme like this one.
Not only can you not upload a theme like this to a myblog.wordpress.org blog, you aren’t allowed to use ad programs like AdSense on those blogs anyway.
To use a WordPress theme like Arclite with AdSense you have to use the self hosted version of WordPress downloaded from www.wordpress.org (for free) and install it on a domain (you’ve paid for) using an FTP program.

I am interested in starting a blog but am just looking into hosts and templates etc. I am hoping for a free template since I realize it will take quite some time to earn any income off this blogsite. Do u have a template that allows search within the site and a couple different types of ad displays-in addition to adsense? I like the large band for picture on top with 3 columns and a thin band for navigation of site below picture band. I do like the overall look of davinci template, does that offer everything I would need? Is it SEO and RSS included as well? If you have any advise for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi,
I am trying to setup a blog with your theme and would like to have aout blogging.
I would liek to ask you if you would be so kind to setup a site with mulitple subdomains for me with the plugins that you usually use.
I will obviosly pay you for the plugins and templates and setup costs.
I would also like to know how you link all the generated sub-domain/sub-folder sites back to the main site and vice versa so that they can be seen by search engines for indexing purposes.
Do you use any plugins? or is this a manual process?
Hope to receive your email.

I don’t offer WordPress installation etc… as a service I’m afraid.
You can find the WordPress plugins I use on a regular basis at WordPress SEO Plugins.
I guess you are using the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin, if you are using the Talian 05 theme and soon the Stallion Theme you can use the Multisitemap Page template linked from Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin and Talian WordPress SEO Theme Support to link to your sub-domains and folders. In Stallion the Page template is included with the theme zip file (so no extra setup to use it), plan to release Stallion within the week and Talian customers get a free update).

Arclite Free AdSense Ready WordPress Theme
Hey David
I have a blog already set up with the standard version of this theme (toholdyourown.com). Is there a way to upload your edited template, without undoing my whole blog formatting? I’ve edited the CSS a bit to get it to where it is now, and would like to maintain it but still get the ad space opportunity.
Thanks for your guidance!
Melanie
It’s been a while since I looked at the Arclite code, but reasonably confident I made no changes to the css files beyond renaming the themes name so it didn’t clash with Arclite original.
You should be able to install Arclite with AdSense separately for testing. As long as the Arclite developer hasn’t made any major changes to the widget setup of Arclite, Arclite with AdSense should work with your current setup minus your CSS changes.
So you should be able to activate Arclite with AdSense and if you don’t like it reactivate Arclite original with no negative impact on your setup.
If it works you should be able to copy the CSS files from Arclite original into the Arclite with AdSense theme folder: you should first edit the main style.css file and change the name of the theme to:
Theme Name: Arclite AdSense 01
to prevent clashes with Arclite original.
Note I used Arclite 1.5.4 to create Arclite with AdSense, Arclite is currently at version 2.0.3. You should check there are no important features added between those two versions.

Hi Everybody
Hi DB, thank you for this information. I was looking at the paid version of Heatmap versus Socrates which also looks pretty good. I didn’t know there was a free version. I am probably going to start with it. Thanks for sharing from the heart!
