I agree, do not build sites for Adsense, build sites you are interested in and you do not mind sitting on and developing.

One idea Template creator is – when the election is over, maybe take your 2010 election site and turn it into a general UK politics sites. WordPress 3.0 with an SU install (I am testing the beta now) will allow your users to have their own blogs.

Load it with comment filter plug-ins and maybe you will have something for the long-run.

You get a good general domain and redirect your current domain, so go from niche to general UK or world politics and your save some of that juice and PR you have built up.

The redirection is important.
